CSTE Funding Opportunity Announcement:
Building STLT Capacity for Improving Data Collection for Disproportionately Affected Populations during Case Investigations of Reportable Diseases
The full CSTE funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is linked on CSTE's RFP page<http://send.naccho.org/link.cfm?r=0jd0xwxLAjwYPvaBq429Lg~~&pe=vAcp2HY3c4OZh8iXLgEEuXiRyr5z7QeWqIey6cBHxodFm6WRSLdNCz6Bo1U-Yw69uaYR_dynB9bqbi4R3rrBlQ~~&t=IrFOqJsvA4tex5A_k9uLFA~~>.
This opportunity is open to state, tribal, local, and territorial (STLT) public health agencies to participate in the development and piloting of an on-line training to improve data collection during interviews of patients with reportable diseases on three disproportionately affected populations (DAP): people with disabilities, people experiencing homelessness, and people who use substances. Jurisdictions will participate in a workgroup that will provide input to the CSTE consultant working on the instructional design of this course, as well as have their case investigation/disease intervention specialist staff pilot and evaluate the on-line course prior to finalizing the training for posting on CSTE LEARN<http://send.naccho.org/link.cfm?r=0jd0xwxLAjwYPvaBq429Lg~~&pe=2Z509e6svFTzs_2Mm1i06ct7wkmxInBGd19ywzMEzou9PFhl5sYFAFoNdjdtpDFX2fmEaOYXq3IQedyuu3cQHQ~~&t=IrFOqJsvA4tex5A_k9uLFA~~>.
Awardees will be required to meet the following three deliverables:
1. Workgroup Attendance: Jurisdictions will be required to identify two people to participate in monthly workgroup meetings to inform the consultants on the development of the training. At least one of these people should be someone who supervises case investigator/disease intervention specialist staff in their jurisdiction.
2. Pilot and Provide Feedback on the On-Line Training: Jurisdictions will need to pilot the training created by the consultants and provide feedback on the course. Each jurisdiction should recruit case investigators/disease intervention specialists to pilot the draft on-line course.
3. Plan to improve data collection on DAP variables: Jurisdictions will review their existing data collection processes for the 3 DAP populations of interest for at least 3 notifiable diseases and provide a plan/protocol to CSTE by the end of the project for improving data collection on these DAP variables and recommendations for sustaining these improvements.
CSTE intends to select multiple awardees and commit up to $72,000 per award. The deadline for proposal submission is Monday, July 24 at 11:59 pm EDT.
The final version of the on-line training will be freely available on CSTE LEARN<http://send.naccho.org/link.cfm?r=0jd0xwxLAjwYPvaBq429Lg~~&pe=fFVz-gzEwZrqwnlJQ1ZGLLidkM8KHyNK8vCE3X-f3LkjD8VsuHSL4GBfYMiDzWVMDqY2a0WMK88uJEzej0pgaQ~~&t=IrFOqJsvA4tex5A_k9uLFA~~> to any staff working at STLT public health agencies, including CSTE members and non-members.
Review the FOA for further details and application instructions. Direct questions to Maria Patselikos (mpatselikos at cste.org<mailto:mpatselikos at cste.org>) or Nicola Marsden-Haug (nmarsden-haug at cste.org<mailto:nmarsden-haug at cste.org>).
