Greetings!
My name is Eric Davis, and I am an Oregon Alcohol and Drug Policy Commission<https://www.oregon.gov/adpc/pages/index.aspx> (ADPC) member.
The ADPC is an independent state government agency created by the Oregon Legislature to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state and local substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery services.
While ADPC Commissioners are appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate, a person who is not a commission member may be appointed by the ADPC Commission to serve on a subcommittee.
The purpose of this communication is to ask you to consider applying to participate in the ADPC Harm Reduction Subcommittee.
The Harm Reduction Committee is a new committee within the ADPC, and up to 10 slots are open for subcommittee members who represent interested parties directly impacted by ADPC's work.
Currently, we are looking for representatives outside of the Portland Metro area and/or people who provide culturally and/or linguistically specific services.
The estimated time commitment for the Harm Reduction Subcommittee is 2-3 hours per month, which includes participating in subcommittee meetings, reading materials, and providing input to the subcommittee assignments.
The Alcohol and Drug Policy Commission adopted 14 recommendations<https://www.oregon.gov/adpc/SiteAssets/Pages/index/ADPC%20December%202023%20Overdose%20Recommendations.pdf> in December 2023 to address deaths in Oregon related to overdose with three specific to harm reduction.
These recommendations will frame the committee's work over the next several years.
If interested, please email Judith.m.leahy at oha.oregon.gov<mailto:Judith.m.leahy at oha.oregon.gov>, expressing your interest in applying for the current ADPC harm reduction subcommittee vacancies and an interest form will sent to you.
