Hi everyone,

NACCHO is conducting a pulse check to see if and how local health departments (LHDs) and syringe services programs (SSPs) are engaged with opioid settlement funds. Every U.S. state, as well as Washington DC, is receiving some form of settlement funds from lawsuits against opioid manufacturers, distributers, and pharmacies. In the national settlement agreement, harm reduction was identified as a core strategy, but states and localities are not required to implement core strategies. State and locality priorities, allocation plans, and processes for distributing opioid settlement funds vary widely.

This pulse check<https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=frIXp_NbO0Wx1xKQ-hfcAkq9lZCrc1tPrdSpPyRYUt1UODlGMk5BRTNZTlBBNlRSTjJVSlYzVEExRC4u&route=shorturl> is designed to collect feedback from LHDs and SSPs about their knowledge and engagement with opioid settlement funds. Only one representative from each LHD or SSP should respond to this pulse check, ideally the person with the most knowledge about your organization's involvement with settlement funds. If this is not you, please forward this to the person in your organization that can best share this information. We are interested in your organization's response, regardless of your organization's level of knowledge about opioid settlement funds.

Please visit here to take the pulse check: https://forms.office.com/r/4ud2pifAvv<https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=frIXp_NbO0Wx1xKQ-hfcAkq9lZCrc1tPrdSpPyRYUt1UODlGMk5BRTNZTlBBNlRSTjJVSlYzVEExRC4u&route=shorturl>

This pulse check<https://forms.office.com/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=frIXp_NbO0Wx1xKQ-hfcAkq9lZCrc1tPrdSpPyRYUt1UODlGMk5BRTNZTlBBNlRSTjJVSlYzVEExRC4u&route=shorturl> should take 10-15 minutes to complete. Information provided will remain confidential; findings will only be shared in aggregate and will not include identifying information from any respondents. Responses will help NACCHO understand how to better support LHDs and their community harm reduction partners in navigating the complex landscape opioid settlement landscape. Please complete this pulse check by EOD October 4th, 2024.

The opioid settlement pulse check was based on the master settlement agreements signed by 48 states, and as such may not address the nuanced challenges faced by tribal nations who may also be receiving funds. Please see OpioidSettlementTracker.com<https://www.opioidsettlementtracker.com/faq/>, Johns Hopkins<https://opioidprinciples.jhsph.edu/implementation-tools/> opioid settlement implementation tools, and TribalOpioidSettlements.com<https://www.tribalopioidsettlements.com/> for more information about the opioid settlements.

More than 1 million curable sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are acquired every day. Unfortunately, lack of public awareness, lack of training among healthcare providers, and stigma around STIs remain and prevent people from getting the tests and treatment they need.

The presentation will include a brief historical background of American Indian/Alaska Natives (AI/AN) in the United States, social determinants of health, the rates and locations of STIs in Indian Country, and the IWTK intervention. The presenters will also share some preliminary data on uptake to date, information on successes, limitations, and practical next steps.

Register today<https://washington.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_69FW4K7qSkC7P5vu1ur-aQ#/registration> to learn how STIs affect Indian Country and gain knowledge of how IWTK works for clients and practitioners.

JYNNEOS Vaccines for Mpox Available to HRSA-supported Health Centers
On Friday, HRSA released a bulletin<https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/USHHSHRSA/bulletins/3b3769f?reqfrom=share> announcing the renewed availability of JYNNEOS vaccine from the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) within the HHS Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) for the purposes of vaccinating at-risk patients against mpox.

The SNS has a limited supply of JYNNEOS vaccines available that expire on October 31, 2024. To help encourage uninsured and underinsured people to get vaccinated against mpox, ASPR will ship JYNNEOS doses to your health center at no cost starting today, September 9. These vaccines are intended for those who are at high risk of mpox and who do not have health care coverage to pay for vaccination.

Since this supply of doses expire on October 31, the first of the two-dose series will need to be administered no later than October 3 and any leftover doses should be destroyed after October 31. For more information on administration and refrigeration, read the full bulletin here<https://content.govdelivery.com/accounts/USHHSHRSA/bulletins/3b3769f?reqfrom=share>.

To request doses, contact sns.ops at hhs.gov<mailto:sns.ops at hhs.gov> with the following information:

  *   Receiving Location Name
  *   Receiving Location Address
  * Receiving Location Hours of Operation
  * Site Points of Contact (name, email, phone number), primary and alternate
  *   Quantity of Vials Requested
