Hello Colleagues,
NASTAD is excited to invite you to an upcoming webinar called “Project ACCESS: Advancing Equitable Access to HIV/HCV Testing Among People Who Inject Drugs.” Project ACCESS is a research study funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and carried out with the University of Miami/IDEA Exchange, NASTAD, and Gilead’s FOCUS Program.
This study is testing whether extra funding and hands-on support can help Syringe Services Programs (SSPs) do a better job of offering HIV and Hepatitis C testing—and helping people get the care they need. Gilead FOCUS will provide the funding, and NASTAD will offer guidance and coaching.
SSPs chosen to join the study will be able to apply for special funding through the Gilead FOCUS program to support testing and care services. They may also get one-on-one help from NASTAD to put proven approaches into action. In addition to Gilead FOCUS funding, each SSP selected will receive $12,500 to help with data collection. Also, three staff members per site can earn up to $350 each for completing surveys and other research tasks.
If you’d like to learn more, please join us for our Launch Webinar on:
📅 Friday, June 27th
🕒 1pm–2pm EST

Earn the HIVPCPRX Certification and Demonstrate Specialty in Pharmacy-Based HIV Prevention and PrEP
Pharmacists who complete the seven core modules of HealthHIV's HIVPCP Certification Program<https://default.salsalabs.org/T3994a157-7990-4c48-9d31-278f6a5aeb4b/045cefc4-c6fd-48b3-bd60-333f2682ccc6> along with this newly released “Pharmacy-Based HIV Prevention and PrEP” module can earn the HIVPCPRX specialty certification. The HIVPCPRX certification demonstrates knowledge of strategies for HIV prevention counseling, PrEP eligibility screening and adherence support, and the evolving policy landscape of implementing pharmacy-based HIV prevention and collaborative practice models.
In this pharmacist-specific HIVPCP program module, Melissa Badowski, PharmD, explores the expanding role of pharmacists in delivering HIV prevention services across diverse care settings. The training highlights clinical, operational, and regulatory considerations for initiating and managing PrEP in pharmacy environments.
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be better able to:
· Identify state guidance and regulations that allow pharmacists to prescribe PrEP
· Describe effective HIV testing in pharmacies
· Describe effective eligibility screening and PrEP counseling strategies in pharmacies
· Educate the patient on PrEP adherence, safety precautions, and the importance of regular monitoring for optimal HIV prevention
· Apply strategies for initiating PrEP in pharmacy settings through real-world case studies

About the HIVPCP Program
The HealthHIV HIV Prevention Certified Provider™ Certification Program is an online, self-paced CME/CPE accredited certification program composed of 60-minute modules in HIV prevention detailing the pertinent clinical and practice information that clinicians need to effectively employ HIV prevention interventions.
Each module is equivalent to 1.0 credit/contact hour (CME, MOC, NCPD, CPE, AAPA, ASWB). You can earn up to 8.0 credits/contact hours at no cost for completion of the certification program.

Upon completion of all seven modules, participants earn a certification recognizing their designation as an HIV Prevention Certified Provider™ (HIVPCP) and receive a listing in the national online directory alongside thousands of other HIV Prevention Certified Providers.
If you were HIVPCP certified between April 1, 2024 and April 1, 2025 – you only need to complete Module 7 of the current year to fulfill the updated knowledge gap requirement and maintain your HIVPCP certification. You will need to confirm your information (in the “Maintenance of Certification” section) to receive your 2025 certification.
