Hone your skills in evaluating and recommending books for beginning


   Learn about the Theodor Seuss Geisel Award for books for early readers.

      The award recognizes the author and illustrator of a book for
      beginning readers who, through their literary and artistic achievements,
      demonstrate creativity and imagination to engage children in reading.

   Guest speakers:

      Jackie Partch
      School Corps Librarian, Multnomah County Library
      Serving on the ALA Geisel Award Committee

      Katie Anderson
      Youth Librarian, Washington County Cooperative Library Services
      Fostering Readers <https://fosteringreaders.weebly.com/>  Resources
      to help you plan and implement fun research-based literacy programs for
      children in K-3rd grade who are learning to read.

      Danielle Jones
      Teen and Youth Librarian, Multnomah County Library
      ALSC Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Task Force
      GeIsel: Reconciling the Man, the Award, and the Legacy

   Practice evaluating books for beginning readers using the Geisel Award

   Help to choose the CSD OLA Mock Geisel 2020 winner (and maybe some honor
   books too)!
