Public Health Improvement Webinar: Kentucky's Accreditation and QI Support
from Within
November 24, 2014 from 2:00 - 3:00 PM ET
The Kentucky Health Department Association has long supported public health
accreditation and quality improvement. As part of a strategic planning
retreat in 2010, the Accreditation Coordinators Workgroup was established.
Since then, the Workgroup has met regularly to provide support, training
and other communication to Kentucky health departments. With help from the
Workgroup, six Kentucky health departments have achieved PHAB accreditation
status and several more departments are in the process.
Webinar participants will find out more about what low-resource, shared
responsibility activities and efforts the Workgroup took to support each
other. Join members of the Accreditation Coordinators Workgroup Alan Kalos
from the Northern Kentucky Health Department and April Harris from Three
Rivers District Health Department on Monday, November 24, 2014 from
2:00-3:00pm ET for this webinar.

Call for Applications
National Leadership Academy for the Public's Health
The National Leadership Academy for the Public's Health (NLAPH) is an
innovative approach to leadership development that brings together teams of
leaders from multiple sectors to advance their leadership skills, build
stronger collaborations, and move toward health equity in their
communities. NLAPH is implemented by the Center for Health Leadership and
Practice (CHLP), a Center of the Public Health Institute (PHI). The program
develops advanced leadership skills through blended learning modalities
including a series of webinars, a national retreat, coaching support from
national experts, and peer networking. These leadership skills are further
refined and deepened as teams work together on an applied health leadership
project to improve population health.
Four leaders from different sectors (public, private, non-profit, other)
are invited to apply as a team. Examples of multi-sector teams include a
representative from the city public health office, an urban planner, a
business representative, and a local non-profit leader. Each team must have
one member from the local, state or regional public health department. All
applications must be submitted by November 25, 2014 by 5pm PST. Application
and further program information is available at:
