Hello, Oregon Public Library Community,

I have some questions about Queer/LGBTQIA+ book clubs.

  1. Who has one? I am curious if there are any public libraries in more rural areas that host these book clubs. I see that Multnomah County does, but who else is making this offering? Do any libraries offer specific groups for adults and youth?
  2. For those who are hosting these book clubs, what are your parameters? Fiction and Nonfiction? What is the name of your book club? Who makes the selections? Are they staff or participant selected? Do you purchase multiple copies or is it up to the group members to source the material? Are there any age parameters?
  3. For libraries who do offer/host queer book clubs, I am interested to hear about perception and feedback from the public - both positive and negative.
  4. And finally, for libraries who do offer/host queer book clubs, I'm interesting in hearing any tips or best practices as well as caveats.

Thank you!
