Good afternoon, LSTA Coordinators,
I want to let you know that my last day as a member of the Library Services Team at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction is this Friday, June 18. It’s been an honor learning from all of you over the past three years and having the opportunity to call you all my colleagues. It’s my hope that Wisconsin will be onboarding a new LSTA coordinator in the very near future who will join your group. I’ve truly appreciated this group’s willingness to share resources and ideas, ask and answer questions, and the inspiration you’ve all provided as we’ve enhanced our grant program by “borrowing” from all of your great ideas.
Tom Ivie was a great guy. My sympathies go out to the good folks at the Wyoming State Library and all of us who were fortunate enough to work with Tom. He will certainly be missed.
As a parting gift to my colleagues who are concerned with the DUNS to UEI transition, here’s a draft of a message I’m planning to send to my libraries and library systems regarding the DUNS to UEI transition<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rQK2zmnJypH0qVliVbQ1CcA1Bu6PEgsBNLMiOv-Mr0w/edit?usp=sharing>. It’s probably way too much information that no one is going to read, but that’s someone else’s problem now. Maybe you’ll be able to take a chunk of it and use it for your purposes.
As a parting request to satisfy my own curiosity and hopefully round out our shared evaluation consultants list, I am wondering if you wouldn’t mind telling each other about how your LSTA Eval/Plan stuff is going. Can you take a few minutes to tell the community who you’re contracting with, how much it costs, or if you haven’t contracted for your eval and/or plan yet? Pop your responses in this LSTA Coordinators Five Year Evaluation and Plan Survey Google Form<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe1PExh1hq0OYG4a4M-l12BQo6jFQ7kKPBlRWTY0khz5otw3Q/viewform?usp=sf_link>. You’ll all be able to review the responses in the “Form Responses 1” tab I added to the shared Qualified Suppliers for LSTA Five-Year Evaluation and Plan<Qualified%20Suppliers%20for%20LSTA%20Five-Year%20Evaluation%20and%20Plan> Google Sheet then hopefully some entrepreneurial LSTA coordinator will maintain a list like this going forward. Also, as a bonus gift if you complete the form now, I will throw in ABSOLUTELY FREE my secret recipe for adding a pre-populated list to a Google Form<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1hYOuVLiaifAu-AM20EOxa9oOm5_93zXmrYEjOubRczk/edit?usp=sharing> by connecting a Google Sheet to a Google Form using Google Scripts. It’s so easy even I can do it! I used it to add the states/territories list rather than typing all of the names into a dropdown list. Just think of the possibilities if you’re trying to survey all of your libraries and want the “Library Name” field to match your naming convention so you can run lookups and stuff off of the results.
May all your SPRs be quick and painless and may your program officer’s review only highlight the great work you do with no required corrections 😊
I’m not going far – I’ll still be at this email address for a while working with our K-12 side of the agency, so feel free to hit me up at michael.dennison at dpi.wi.gov<mailto:michael.dennison at dpi.wi.gov> if you’re bored or just want to say “hey!”
I wish you all the best with your ARPA funds and CARES closeouts. You’re a great group, and I am going to miss working with you!
Take care,
Michael Dennison
