[lstac] subgrants

Maryland has many subgrants including:

*Staff Development-Maryland Library Association Conference grants*
These are awarded by number of staff and are awarded every year. We have 24
library systems and 3 regionals-- they all are provided with funding. We
follow the state fiscal year, so these are one year long grants. Grantees
need to submit for reimbursement at least quarterly and need to complete
interim and final reports.

*Competitive Grants*
Every year we have a competitive grants cycle that is open to Maryland
public libraries. We have a grant review internally plus 2 outside neutral
3rd parties that also review the grants. This year we awarded about 15
grants. Our cap for these grants is $30k and library systems may submit up
to 3 applications.

*Statewide Grants*
We also award statewide grants which typically are longer projects such as
One Maryland One Book (statewide bookclub), Statewide Statistics (Tableau
training), Webinar programming (staff development courses online), Tech
Lending, etc.

All of the LSTA grants have grant liaisons (there are 5 of us),
interim/final reports, and if we have a grants showcase they are required
to present. All of our grants follow the same one-year fiscal year that
mirrors the state.

All of our grants are managed in an electronic grants management system
that was custom built on a Salesforce platform. (I don't necessarily
recommend this choice. I started developing this in 2019 and it is a work
in progress.) I have learned a lot about Salesforce and act as the admin.

I'm happy to answer any questions.

Best,

Mary
