Legislative Changes
"The Oregon Legislature's 2016 35 day short session began on February 1st.  The Crime Victims' Services Division has not introduced any legislation this session, however, several bills have been introduced that may have an impact on MDT partners. Attached for your information are bills related to: recording grand jury testimony (SB1550), testing of sexual assault kits (SB1571), creation of elderly and vulnerable fatality review teams (HB4013), expanding the definition of 'physical injury' (SB1556), postponing implementation of child sexual abuse prevention instruction programs (HB4099), and extending the time for prosecuting certain crimes (SB1553)"

Learning Opportunities
OAASIS will be having their quarterly chat on February 10th

We have Dr. David Clarke, with Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) providing a lecture on the topic, "Could This Be Why I'm So Sick?  Exploring Links Between Adult Physical Illness and Childhood Trauma".  Dr. Clarke is President of the Psycholphysiologic Disorders Association and Clinical Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology Emeritus at OHSU.

We hope you'll join us for this important learning and healing opportunity on February 10th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the Den at the Well and Good Coffeehouse, 7357 SW Beveland St., Tigard OR, 97223.

The 17th Child Abuse and Family Violence Summit will be taking place April 19-20, 2016 at the Red Lion Hotel in Portland Oregon.

This three-and-a-half-day multi-disciplinary conference is for professionals working in the area of law, law enforcement, medical, nursing, parole and probation, prevention/education, protective services and treatment of child abuse, neglect and domestic violence.

The Summit is hosted by the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Child Abuse Team and the Domestic Violence Enhanced Response Team (DVERT). The Summit's goal is to educate professionals on the complex issues associated with child abuse and family violence, to broaden each professional's knowledge base in multiple areas, and to increase understanding of the other agencies' roles and responsibilities with the latest research and promising practices.

Our theme, The Power of One in Collaboration with Others, continues throughout the Summit as we learn new ways to work together to protect and make each child safe in our communities.

Registration is limited. Early registration is strongly encouraged. Fee includes all workshops, continental breakfast each day, refreshment breaks, and USB.

Registration Fees:
$395 for a group of 5 or more from the same agency (postmarked/registered online by April 1, 2016)
$415 or early individual registration (postmarked/registered online by April 1, 2016)
$465 for regular individual registration (postmarked/registered online -    between April 2-15, 2016)
$220 for individual one-day registration (postmarked/registered online by April 15, 2016)
