A message from Parents of Murdered Children:
September 23, 2016, National Day of Remembrance
Mark your Calendar to attend our National Day of Remembrance on Friday, at Mountain View Cemetery at 500 Hilda St., Oregon City, Oregon, 97045 at 1:00 p.m. Mt. View is the home for our beautiful POMC Memorial Wall. This is the day we celebrate and honor our loved ones so people understand how much our loved ones will always be missed and loved. It is a National Day set aside so the United States remembers the tragic loss our country suffers from murder in the United States.
We will include a speaker, music, and the names of our loved ones will be read out loud. This year we will also honor police officers in Oregon and Washington who lost their lives in line of duty. After the ceremony, we will have a barbeque and desserts for those attending. It is a wonderful time for us to visit and share with other co-victims and friends. Everyone is invited.

This would essentially support two participants from the applicant pool who could not otherwise afford registration and travel/lodging fees.
2. Scholarship: If an individual from a community-based organization is unable to cover training costs, an applicant can instead apply in this category to seek to cover their cost for registration/participation and reimburse travel. This selection will be based on cohort fit and financial need.

NCCD Seeks Community Violence Prevention Program Manager. NCCD<http://www.nccdglobal.org/> has a long history of partnering with justice and social service agencies. These partnerships are focused largely on helping those who work in these systems make equitable and accurate decisions based on evidence. We believe this work is important to helping these systems function as they should.
At the same time, research has made it clear that community-based solutions and interventions [http://content.delivra.com/etapcontent/NationalCouncilonCrimeDe/newsletter/2016%20-%20July/handsin.png] have a greater positive impact for the majority of people. Meaningful system reform thus requires that we invest in prevention strategies that narrow and reduce the pathways to formal system contact. This approach means that we seek to bolster alternatives to formal system involvement, and concurrently work to transform our systems so that they function well and fairly when no other alternative is available.
NCCD is expanding its violence prevention work with the goal of promoting effective community violence prevention strategies. The job posting for Community Violence Prevention Program Manager, based in our Oakland, CA, office, presents a unique opportunity for the right person to join our team to support this work. Please click here<http://tracking.etapestry.com/t/32074947/1236193179/71432182/0/64819/> to learn more about this important role at NCCD.
