WRCAC is pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for a new regional training, Core Concepts for Team Facilitation: Course + Community.
Through a combination of self-paced learning and peer discussion, this training introduces team facilitators to foundational frameworks and skills necessary to build psychologically safe, inclusive and thriving teams.
TARGET AUDIENCE

TRAINING DETAILS
Participants are asked to commit to attend five online sessions every other Wednesday from 12:00pm - 1:00pm PDT, starting Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
[A picture containing text, person, indoor Description automatically generated]

The total time commitment per month is estimated at 3-4 hours. For individual benefit, as well as the benefit of the entire group, participants are asked to commit to participating in all five sessions.
There is no cost to participate in the training.

Building Resilient Teams
APPLY BY MARCH 5, 2021
WRCAC is now accepting applications for Building Resilient Teams, an online guided discussion group designed to build resiliency within the MDT.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The topic of vicarious trauma and resiliency is one that most professionals in this field agree impacts our work; however, because of the nature of our work and the overwhelming complexity of the issue, it often gets pushed to the bottom of our priority list. The health of the MDT directly impacts the services it is able to provide to children and families. A healthy MDT is one that acknowledges and addresses the impact of vicarious trauma and actively works to build resiliency.
This group will promote resilience and provide an opportunity for participants to return to their MDT with strategies, resources, and an action plan for building resiliency within their own teams. For each cohort, WRCAC will select up to eighteen two-member teams representing MDTs from throughout the western region.
PROJECT DETAILS
This group will meet twice a month for seven sessions via Zoom. The time commitment per month is estimated at 4 hours, which includes 15 to 30 minutes of pre-meeting work and an hour and 15 minutes for each session. For individual benefit, as well as the benefit of the entire group, participants are strongly encouraged to participate in all seven sessions.
Building Resilient Teams is being offered in two cohorts. A third cohort may be added later in 2021. Participants will indicate their availability and cohort preference when applying.
[A picture containing text, person, player, female Description automatically generated]
Because participants will be returning to their individual MDTs with resources and action plans, it is required that one participant from each team carry be in a "leadership" role, typically defined as coordinator or facilitator of the MDT. All disciplines are encouraged to apply in order for well-rounded discussion within the group.
There is no cost to participate in the project.
HOW TO APPLY
For more information and to apply, please click here<http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001-CKiKIze1SOzkRhy8rl20go4WU7EyI2D-v6Mi5WjFiIvTt_wzig9v0Z_bK8qnVC-LO9gfvZwOEnFI0IY12GkknzGJoH8k2arwazq0lcdrxLlk1u4yYFir5D4Syor1X0X1FEcE72W_9bdttkCE9kzOIRmfhDtc3-VrTfqBV3dbUJULF7pNgdFcKU0aRBz4APCgFUUMxpC3Y-AhA1yK7zi8spRGaugnfKQ&c=kHWI2f226NSZSkrW1dtwnOxzTl9pLbI2iuyU95XrWJn8_CAItIGC_g==&ch=aaMrAhRezuo2FD5JY__JO3SDVsnrvHbGb1_uZ1eJxFpQX_Wc8Mhh3Q==>.
Applications are due on March 5th, and applicants will be notified by March 19th as to whether or not they are accepted.

While Americans agree that child abuse and neglect is unacceptable and are more likely than ever to consider child development an important policy issue, it can be difficult to build the public understanding and policy we will need to effectively prevent, identify, and address childhood adversity. As communicators, we still encounter persistent dilemmas in deciding what to say, how to say it, and what to leave unsaid.
Understanding the need for fresh, powerful framing strategies, Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA America) and the newly merged Alliance for Strong Families and Communities and Council on Accreditation asked the FrameWorks Institute to update framing recommendations that have served our field well since 2004. The result is a new strategic brief, Reframing Childhood Adversity: Promoting Upstream Approaches<https://nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Falliance1.org%2Fweb%2Fnews%2F2021%2Ffeb%2Fnew-webinar-how-communicate-child-adversity-build-understanding.aspx&data=04%7C01%7Cacollier%40mphi.org%7C8ace4bf4f93240a579aa08d8d9966c9a%7Ca4405b416d4f4d5190dd22ba251725f5%7C0%7C0%7C637498587415239499%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=DfvV%2BjBjghcI327gVSRWuwhKKxGsamZ5ke3zatAxjp8%3D&reserved=0>. This highly accessible, actionable guide takes recent science and current communications contexts into account, speaks more directly to racial and social justice, and aligns with efforts to reimagine child welfare systems into child well-being systems. The brief also offers guidance for communicating about adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and strategies for helping the public to see how prevention works.
Join Dr. Julie Sweetland, senior advisor at the FrameWorks Institute, for a guided tour of this timely, powerful new guidance. Since joining FrameWorks in 2012, Dr. Sweetland has led reframing initiatives on issues like human services, health equity, and two-generation approaches to family well-being. Her strategic insight has helped leading advocates, policymakers, and scientists frame their issues in ways that drive change. Dr. Sweetland began her career as a classroom teacher and is deeply committed to building a world that brings out the full potential of children.
Best,
Amy

Please join us on Wednesday, March 17, or Wednesday, April 14, 2021, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. eastern time, for a webinar hosted by the Office for Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center (OVC TTAC) on Suicide Prevention and Intervention for Victim Advocates: The EDC H.O.P.E. Curriculum. This webinar will provide an overview of the importance of suicide prevention activities within victim services and introduce the EDC H.O.P.E. handbook. The handbook is an important resource for advocates, and it includes a guide designed for those working in tribal communities specifically. The webinar will demonstrate tools to prepare crime victim advocates to identify victims who are exhibiting symptoms of suicidality, present how to do a brief intervention and where to make referrals for clinical mental health services, and share how to provide ongoing support to victims. This webinar was first presented in fall 2020.
