SVAA Basic Academy August 2022
Registration is now open!
The Oregon State Basic Victim Assistance Academy (Basic Academy) provides fundamental education for victim service providers and allied professionals who routinely interact with victims of crime. The August 2022 Basic Academy will be 100% virtual. This interactive, online format increases accessibility to critical advocacy training. There will be synchronous and asynchronous elements of the Basic Academy, which means that participants will do some work at their own pace and then come together with peers for live sessions to learn other pieces and share efforts.

Participants are obligated to participate in 40 hours of training and to complete all self-paced and live work. This means approximately 10 hours per week for four weeks, through a combination of self-paced individual work as well set times for live online sessions with the entire cohort. The training will begin Tuesday, August 2nd and conclude Friday, August 26th. Participants will have access to all online materials (self-paced work and recordings of live sessions) for an additional 30 days to complete all work. Please note that participants must attend at least 50% of the live sessions in real-time in order to successfully complete the course.

To register for the August 2022 SVAA Basic Academy, and to view additional information about the course itself (as well as scholarship information), please visit the following link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/oregon-state-basic-victim-assistance-academy-august-2022-tickets-372817526257

Registration will close on July 19th. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out! We look forward to taking this next step in continuing to build a community of informed and empowered advocates.

SVAA Training Topic Survey
It was wonderful seeing some of you (virtually!) at NCVLI’s Victim Law Conference last Thursday-Saturday! Now that Conference is over, it’s time to dive more deeply into planning some of our upcoming SVAA trainings. The next SVAA Basic Academy will be held August 2-26th and registration will be opening soon – we will email everyone again once registration is available. We are also in the process of planning the 2022 SVAA Advanced Academy, which will be offered in September, and we would LOVE your input! Please take a moment to respond to a quick questionnaire – your responses will assist us as we finalize this year’s training topic, and future topics, as well. The questionnaire is available online at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7Y6JC6K.
Welcome to the beginning of summer, and we look forward to the trainings still to come this year!
