September 2004 Canada Goose hunting season dates changed

SALEM - The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife today updated the
September 2004 Canada Goose hunting season dates. Previously listed as
Sept. 11-17, 2004, on page 14 of the 2004-05 Oregon Game Bird
Regulations, the September Canada Goose season for Douglas, Coos, Curry,
Jackson, Josephine and all eastern Oregon counties is now Sept. 9-15,
2004.

The date change was made to comply with federal hunting guidelines,
which do not allow the September 2004 Goose hunting season to extend
past Sept. 15 in these areas. Season dates initially listed in the
2004-05 Oregon Game Bird Regulations for northwest Oregon remain correct
and will differ from those in the remainder of the state. All other
regulations listed still apply.

"A mistake in season dates was made and we must make this correction
in order to legally have this September season," said Brad Bales, ODFW
staff waterfowl biologist. Rather than losing two days of hunting in
this short season, the days after Sept. 15 were moved ahead and the
season will begin on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004. Updates to the 2004-05
Oregon Game Bird regulations can be found at
http://www.dfw.state.or.us/ODFWhtml/Regulations/2004_reg_changes.htm
.

The 2004-05 Oregon Game Bird regulations can be found at
http://www.dfw.state.or.us/GB/birdregs.pdf and are expected to be
delivered to license agents on Monday, August 23, 2004.
