Fish and Wildlife Commission meets Friday in Salem
SALEM - The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission will meet Friday, Nov.
12, in Salem to amend rules relating habitat conservation program
administration and fish passage negotiation processes. The Commission
also will meet in executive session.
The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission is the policy-making body for
fish and wildlife issues in the state. The seven-member panel meets
monthly. The meeting will occur in the Commission Room of the Oregon
Department of Fish and Wildlife headquarters building located at 3406
Cherry Ave. N.E. in Salem.
The official meeting of the Commission will begin at 8 a.m. and proceed
through the agenda in order. The following items are scheduled:
* Director's report on regional ODFW activities and temporary rules;
* Expenditure report;
* Wildlife Habitat Conservation and Management Program rule changes;
* Riparian Lands Tax Incentive Program rule changes;
* Fish Restoration and Enhancement Program funding requests;
* Fish passage negotiation process rule changes;
* Fish Screening Task Force appointments; and
* Informational briefing on Dungeness crab fishery.
The Commission also plans to meet with its attorneys in executive
session as allowed under ORS 192.660(2)(f) and (h) to discuss current
litigation where the Commission is a party and confidential
attorney-client documents. Discussion will center on land exchanges,
lamprey management, hydroelectric relicensing issues, and criminal cases
on appeal.
Public testimony will be taken on each agenda item except the executive
session. Sign-up sheets to testify will be provided at the meeting. Most
agenda items are posted to ODFW's Web site at:

Persons seeking to testify for up to five minutes on other issues not
on the formal agenda may do so by making arrangements at least 24 hours
in advance. "Unscheduled testimony" must be arranged by calling
Katie Thiel, ODFW Director's Office, at 503-947-6044. Unscheduled
testimony will occur around 1 p.m. and is limited to about six speakers.
