Day camps offer fly fishing for kids
EUGENE - The Eugene City Recreation Services/River House Outdoor
Program, in partnership with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife
and Trout Unlimited local Chapter 678, today announced two day camps
this summer to introduce kids to fly fishing and the outdoors.
"Kids Fly Fishing and Conservation Day Camp" is open to all youths age
11 to 13.
Participants will learn about stream ecology, fish biology, entomology,
casting techniques and fly tying in this introductory course. The camps
also include an aquatic service project and a fly fishing river trip on
the McKenzie River.
The first camp runs June 27 - 30, the second runs Aug. 8 - 11. The cost
is $51 for the week. Scholarships are available. Please contact The
