Stakeholder team to meet on Lower Columbia River recovery plan

SALEM - A stakeholder committee that is helping develop recovery plans
for salmon and steelhead on the Lower Columbia River today announced an
April 18 meeting at the McMenamins Edgefield Inn in Troutdale.

The meeting is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Interested members of
the public are invited to attend. Public comments will be taken at 3:30
p.m.

Members of the stakeholder team represent watershed councils, tribal,
agriculture, forestry, conservation, recreation, fishing, commerce and
local governments. Their input will help the State of Oregon and NOAA
Fisheries develop a recovery plan for the region, which extends from
Hood River to Astoria, and the Willamette River upstream to Willamette
Falls.

The team will review state and federal recovery planning, Oregon's
Native Fish Conservation Policy, designing and implementing the recovery
plan, and developing a work plan and timelines for completing the plan.
They also will receive an overview of salmon and steelhead planning in
the Northwest and will discuss a recovery plan for the Lower Columbia
River.
