Commission to meet in Burns

SALEM - The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission will hold its regular
monthly meeting May 11-12 in Burns.

On Thursday, the Commission will tour the region, with stops planned at
Malheur Lake, Krumbo Reservoir, points around Frenchglen, and the Page
Springs campground. The tour departs at 8 a.m. from the Best Western
Rory and Ryan Inns in Hines, and is scheduled to conclude at 3 p.m. The
public is welcome to follow the Commission for the tour.

Friday's meeting begins at 8 a.m. at Burns High School, 1100 Oregon
Avenue. Wildlife division staff will brief the Commission on migratory
bird management in Oregon, and the state's role in managing migratory
birds in the Pacific Flyway. Staff also will provide an update on
implementation of state's sage grouse conservation assessment and
strategy.

The Commission is expected to take action on two contested cases -- one
involving wildlife violators and one involving a wildlife
rehabilitator's permit. Commissioners also could act on a petition to
remove peregrine falcons from the state list of Threatened and
Endangered Species.

ODFW Marine Resources Program staff will provide a report on the 2005
limited entry black and blue rockfish logbook, and nearshore fishery
logbook program.

The Commission is the policy making body for fish and wildlife issues in
the state. The seven-member panel meets monthly. Agenda item exhibits
may be requested by calling the ODFW Director's Office at 800-720-6339
or 503-947-6044. Agenda items also can be found on ODFW's Web site at
