Fish Restoration and Enhancement Board to meet in Gold Beach
 
GOLD BEACH - Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife's Fish Restoration
and Enhancement Board today announced a May 19 meeting in Gold Beach.
The meeting will be held at the Curry County Courthouse Annex, 94235
Moore Street.
 
Created by the Oregon Legislature in 1989, the Fish Restoration and
Enhancement Program is funded by a surcharge on sport and commercial
fishing licenses and commercial poundage fees. The program's
seven-member citizen board reviews fish restoration and enhancement
project proposals and makes funding recommendations to the Oregon Fish
and Wildlife Commission. 
 
The meeting is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The agenda includes a
review of the latest grant applications, an overview of the R&E Program
budget, updates on current hatchery maintenance, upgrades and repairs,
and other business. 
 
The meeting is open to the public, and an opportunity for public comment
is scheduled. 
 
A noon recess will be taken for lunch where the Board may discuss
matters of general interest. Members of the public are welcome to join
Board members for this recess. The recess location will be announced
during the course of the meeting. 
 
Following the official meeting, Board members may meet for dinner to
discuss matters of interest. Members of the public are welcome to join
Board members for dinner. The dinner location will be announced during
the course of the meeting.
 
A field trip to view local projects funded by the R&E Program is
scheduled May 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Members of the public may
accompany the group using their own transportation. Persons seeking
additional information on the field trip may contact R&E Program staff
