[ODLC] ODLC update

Hello:

Representatives from the largest member libraries met twice this summer to discuss the Oregon Digital Library Consortium, specifically getting at what we're trying to accomplish and how to reduce holds wait times knowing the budget isn't enough to meet demand.

The group quickly recognized we can implement some strategies to improve patron satisfaction, and ODLC Executive Committee members will spearhead a handful of changes over the next couple of months.


-          More aggressively deleting expired titles with very few holds / titles that can't be repurchased

-          Re-evaluating the holds ratio. Currently, the consortium purchases additional copies at 1:15 for ebooks and 1:20 for audio. Audio holds and checkouts are outpacing books these days.

-          Experimenting with Lucky Day<https://resources.overdrive.com/library/libby-features/lucky-day/>. We'll set a shorter checkout time frame on selected titles for quicker turnaround.

-          Evaluate shifting some funding designated for fulfilling high holds titles to mid-level holds titles.

I was thrilled with the collaborative spirit of our meetings, and I look forward to reporting back in a few months that our efforts are making a difference at your libraries.
