To the ODLC Governing Board,
Jackson County Library Services has been part of the Oregon Digital Library Consortium from the beginning. This has been a wonderful consortium to be part of, one that has greatly benefited our patrons for many years.
Goal 1, Strategy 1 of our Strategic Plan (2022-2026) is to improve and enhance our collections, so we took the opportunity to investigate the pros and cons of remaining a member of ODLC. While the collection we access by being part of the consortium is large, we are unable to curate the collection nor customize the settings and platform in a way that best serves the specific needs of our community. It is for these reasons that we have ultimately decided to leave ODLC.
In light of recent discussions over Article 3, Section 11.b, I am requesting a full withdrawal from ODLC half-way through the next contract with Overdrive. This means that we would remain a full member, paying all dues and serving on the Governing Board, through June 30, 2026. Starting July 1, 2026 we would no longer be part of ODLC.
Because this request is not explicitly written in the Bylaws, I am uncertain how to proceed in this process and would appreciate the Board's guidance.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
