Dear OGIC Members:
At the October 25, 2019 OGIC meeting, the GIS Program Leaders (GPL - former OGIC technical advisory committee) presented the following recommendation related to the establishment of a new OGIC Technical Advisory Committee (TAC):
Recommendation
OGIC should appoint members to a TAC; they could choose more than one to participate (does not need to be a 1:1 relationship of voting member to TAC appointee). OGIC members should appoint participants who represent the agency, organization, or constituency that they were appointed to represent.
OGIC state agency reps should appoint existing GPL members to represent state agencies. The TAC would meet quarterly. GPL will continue to meet monthly, but when the TAC meets, GPL will join TAC and participate together. The TAC will need to appoint its own Chair who will create their agendas and ensure that minutes are taken of TAC meetings.
After some discussion, OGIC adopted the recommendation. As such, the actions below are necessary:
1. Each voting OGIC member please submit a name or names (with contact information) for TAC membership. Each TAC member will represent the stakeholder community represented by the OGIC member submitting their name(s). Please submit the name(s) no later than January 20, 2020, and please confirm with each person that they agree to serve on the TAC. As noted above, the TAC will meet quarterly. The TAC will work to provide advice and guidance to OGIC with regard to technical geospatial issues. If you have questions about time commitment or potential participants, please contact Cy Smith.
2. OGIC will formally establish the Technical Advisory Committee at the OGIC meeting in late January.
3. GPL will continue to work on the State Plane Coordinate System issue also introduced at the October 25 OGIC meeting, but will turn that issue over to the TAC after the TAC is established.
Submit your names to Cy Smith (cc'd), with a cc to me also please.
The attached document is intended to assist the OGIC members that represent state agency stakeholder groups. OGIC voting members frp, state agencies should appoint at least one person from the GPL to represent their stakeholder group on the TAC.
