[OMS_MANAGERS] Motivating Committee Volunteers

Hi, Angie -

In general with committees, I've found that setting expectations and
establishing great communication is key.

-          Define the roles and responsibility of the committee itself and
the chairman

-          Establish a compelling agenda for each meeting - what will they
be accomplishing?  Why is it important and meaningful to them as an
investment of their time and energy?  

-          How does it fit in the bigger process/larger context?  

-          Include recognition for what's already been done, kudos, etc.

 

You've probably already addressed these points, but sometimes we lose sight
of them.

Hello,

I'm looking for some advise on motivating committee volunteers.  We did a
great job finding committee members throughout the summer, then as it came
time for our committee chairs to hold regular monthly meetings the last
couple months we have had a hard time getting good attendance at their
meetings.

Please provide any advise you may have on motivating our committee
volunteers to show up for monthly meetings.
