[OMS_MANAGERS] Arts/artists revitalizing downtown

In Canby, we created the Arts & Culture Advisory Council(ACAC) in January 2014. The first project that the group decided to understake was bringing sculptures to downtown 1st Avenue. In 2012, Canby's 1st Avenue underwent a major redevelopment with art plinths a major focus throughout. After receiving submissions, the ACAC decided to move forward and commissioned two pieces of work, which will be unveiled on September 5th. It is my hope that this adds another revitalization aspect to the efforts of the Canby Main Street program, and builds off the momentum we have seen with the 1st Avenue Redevelopment.

I am interested in learning/hearing about any models or examples in Oregon or beyond where artists drove downtown revitalization in a small town.  This could be through studios, live/work space, performance/gallery space or combination of all.  Paducah, KY is famous, but where else?
