[OMS_MANAGERS] Food Trucks/Transient Vendors

Good Afternoon!

At the last City Council meeting in Coos Bay, there was a public forum and
discussion of allowing food trucks/transient businesses in the the City.
Currently, there is a BBQ food truck that parks in the Visitor Center
parking lot and there was some concern about it taking away parking spaces
from visitors. The city administration proposed moving the vendors to a
different, city owned lot. There was also some concern about how to properly
and fairly license the vendors. It looks like the current transient business
license from the city is about $75; established restaurants voiced concerns
that these businesses were paying such low fees and utilizing public
property as compared to the established restaurants who are subject to
higher business license fees and property taxes.

Does anyone have food trucks or transient vendors that set up in their
downtowns? How have they been received by the community and businesses? How
are they regulated (or are they regulated)?

Thanks,

Katherine
