[OMS_MANAGERS] FW: OLD TOWN PARKING GUIDELINES/REQUIREMENTS - SHERWOOD MAIN STREET REQUEST

Hi all --

We did a very comprehensive parking study here in Sandy on behalf of the
City Council a few years ago. The main issue here was that Sandyites were
complaining that there wasn't enough parking in downtown Sandy and that
they wanted the City to do something about it. Well, lo and behold, after
performing a parking count, we found out that we actually have an abundance
of parking downtown, but many of our citizens will simply not walk more
than a block to patronize a business, and will literally turn around and
drive home if they can't find a parking spot close enough to their
destination in one pass. I don't know that there is anything the City can
do about that. However, the parking study also provided us with some good
data as to some other downtown parking issues and has driven us to change
some of our policies, including implementing a really cool wayfinding
program here this summer to correct our anemic directional signage.

The above link should take you to the study. I helped put this beast
together, so feel free to give me a call if there are questions I can
answer for you. And good luck!
