Subject: Timely Opportunity for OR Communities to Boost Pro-Local Business Initiatives
Hi, Sheri
I thought you may appreciate knowing about this opportunity -- I invite you to forward it to anyone you think may be interested. We are happy to answer any questions!
Light a Spark in Your Community This Spring!
Are you seeking to launch or build the impact of a "buy local" campaign or initiatives to help local independent businesses thrive?
We are excited to announce a great opportunity for communities in Oregon to host AMIBA presentations and workshops at a greatly reduced cost during the week of April 16-22. Thanks to generous underwriting from American Express OPEN and a planned event, we're able to offer these workshops at about half the normal cost.
These workshops play a key role in building the most effective "buy local" campaigns, Independent Business Alliances and pro-local policy initiatives in more than 95 communities<http://www.amiba.net/presentations_trainings/clients>. You can review presentation and workshop topics here<http://www.amiba.net/presentations_trainings/topics> or see an outline of our most popular offering<http://www.amiba.net/presentations_trainings/presentations-outline>.

The just-published 2015 Survey of Independent Businesses demonstrates just how much well-run “buy local” initiatives can boost sales can be (see graph/link).
Our trainings provide inspiration and direct organizing help for both new and well-established groups to deliver results like those shown. One workshop can save you months of time and energy, as well as yielding a net increase in your funding. AMIBA's most-requested speaker, co-founder Jeff Milchen<http://www.amiba.net/about/people/#milchen>, will be leading these workshops.
AMIBA also provides several other trainings and services<http://www.amiba.net/presentations_trainings/topics> to help your local businesses and neighborhoods prosper, including:
▪ Consumer surveys and analysis;
▪ In-depth board trainings to enhance the cohesiveness, accountability and effectiveness of your directors;
▪ Site and business assessments to help your businesses and commercial districts make a better impression;
Normal event costs are $3000+ travel expenses for one-day trainings, with additional days at reduced rates. Additional days often are used to get a neutral assessment and recommended improvements for local business performance and local infrastructure (ask for an example).
Opportunities to Dramatically Reduce Costs
1. Since travel days often comprise a large part of the event cost, you'll save $1000 or more by scheduling events on planned tours in your region (hence, this announcement!). Contact us<http://www.amiba.net/about/contact> with specific dates for a precise quote.
2. Underwriting from American Express OPEN will lower costs by at least $600 for any host community agreeing to simply note the sponsorship and AmEx OPEN logo on their event publicity (limited reserve of funding is dispensed on a first-come, first-served basis).
3. AMIBA affiliates<http://www.amiba.net/join-amiba/benefits_fees> receive an additional $500 discount for all local events (this immediately pays for more than 50% of affiliation cost).
City governments and local economic development agencies are excellent candidates to sponsor both the workshop and a community assessment. We also can provide direct assistance in setting up databases and other infrastructure, as well as training on membership sales to staff and volunteers.

AMIBA speakers also offer engaging keynotes and breakouts for conferences. See the long list of satisfied clients<http://www.amiba.net/presentations_trainings/clients>. Requirements for using underwriting from American Express OPEN are posted here<http://www.amiba.net/presentations_trainings/logistics#underwriting>.
Please contact us news at AMIBA.net<mailto:news at AMIBA.net> or 406-582-1255 if you'd like a quote for a specific date or have questions. We also are ready to help anytime with your pro-local initiatives, regardless of your readiness for an event!
Best regards,
Jennifer
