Thank you to all who contributed to this report and for support throughout the year of research. We hope to build momentum as we work to design a Statewide Historic Theater Initiative for Oregon.
What's in the report?
The report has 5 main components:
* History and importance of theaters in Oregon
* The current state of historic theaters in Oregon
* The physical and financial needs expressed by historic theaters via the Oregon Historic Theaters Needs Assessment Survey
* Recommendations for better supporting historic theaters in the future
* Inventory and profiles of historic theaters in Oregon

2. Oregon Main Street Conference - Saving Historic Theaters Pre-Conference Workshop
This October, the Oregon Main Street Conference will feature a 3-hour pre-conference workshop dedicated to historic theaters. Please share this information with theater owners and operators in your communities.
Workshop description: Traditionally the local movie or opera house was one of the social anchors for historic downtowns - a function many still perform today. This workshop is designed to engage owners, operators, and lovers of historic theaters in a conversation about the challenges and opportunities of operating and maintaining these community treasures. We will be highlighting the recent report based on research, surveys, and interviews conducted by the U of O Community Service Center. Building on the recommendations from the report, we want to engage attendees in a discussion about forming a broader network of historic theaters. In addition we will share tips and strategies on marketing opportunities, developing and executing a successful restoration plan, and ways to improve energy efficiency.
We hope you will sign up to attend this "kick-off" of the Statewide Historic Theaters Initiative.
