1.      2015 National Main Street Center Trend Survey - attached is the most recent trends survey from the National Main Street Center. This includes information on the organizational structure, funding, and staffing trends across the National Main Street Center. For example,  71.5% of the respondents nationally are 501c3 organizations and 46% offer medical insurance.



2.      On the road recently, the number one priority I hear from the field is developing a sustainable funding plan for the local main street effort. Attached are a few pieces that will start you on the road to developing your fundraising strategy. The first is a short article from the National Main Street Center on funding tips for board members. Fundraising is a responsibility, both philosophically and legally, of all nonprofit boards. One of the great tools Restore Oregon uses is an individual "friend-raising" and fundraising commitment plan for each board member - board members have the ability to select the specific activities they are willing to assist with. When reviewing my pledge as a board member for Restore Oregon, I noticed many of the elements aligned beautifully with the fundraising tips in the article. Attached is a sample of the board commitment form I tweaked for use by main street groups. And, lastly, attached is a sample fundraising plan. This piece can be tailored based on your particular funding goals.
