Subject: [OMS_MANAGERS] Downtown Parking Survey
Hi:
I'm doing a survey regarding public parking in downtowns. I was hoping that
you could take the time in answer a few questions.
1. Does your city have a time limit on on-street public parking in the
downtown area? If so what is your time limits? 2 hours except for 1 block
where it is 1 hour on both sides, and one block where it is a mix of 2 hours
on the north side and 1 hour on the south side and a small section is 15
minutes.
2. Does your city have dedicate enforcement staff of these time limits?
No If not, how are the parking limits enforced? If someone complains the
police MIGHT do someone but rarely do, and the parking tickets are not
enforceable so they are largely ignored. If so, do you know how enforcement
is funded? Out of community policing budget but only during the week.
3. Does your city own public parking lots within the downtown? Yes If
so:
a. Does the public parking lots have a time limit? Sort of If so, what
are the limits? Its mixed, mostly unlimited except no overnight parking
without permit.
b. Do you actively enforcement within the parking lot? Only around city
hall where you will be towed.
c. How is the maintenance of the parking lots funded? City funds
4. Does your city sell parking permits for Downtown? Yes for a few on
street parking areas If so, what is the cost of the permit(s) $30 for 3
month for business employees, free for residents, and what does permit(s)
allow? Parking longer than 2 hours in specific 2 hour zones (a very small %
of 2 hour zones).
5. Does your community have its own enforcement or is by a third party
provider? Police give our unenforceable tickets except for around city hall
where it is private ad strictly enforced.
6. Does your city issue residential parking permits for the Downtown?
See above If so, what is the cost of the permit? free IF not, how is parking
for the downtown residence organized? In a few designated areas residents
and employees can park in 2 hour zones for as long as they want.
Thank you for taking the time to answer these question. You are helping me
and Downtown Klamath Falls tremendously.
