Children's Book Collection

We have had a very busy year including our most successful Cinco de Mayo, Thursday Rocks and Roger Brooks monthly presentations. Our MFdowntown.org has welcomed five new businesses into town. Our neighborhood association petitions are being signed, so that soon neighborhoods will have a better channel to communicate with our city government.

At the moment we have Administrative assistant Jenny Camarena which is a big help, but we need to add to the team an executive director. Main Street is helping us in our search. We need someone: who loves the community; who likes to roll up their sleeves; who is computer and social network savvy; who likes to share our dreams and find a way to implement them. Contact us if you are that person or know that perfect candidate.

Journals and Supplies

We all are thankful that the City of Milton-Freewater is receiving $3 Million for a Neighborhood Pedestrian Safety Project.  I know that the City will be holding an input meeting. It is time to start thinking whether there are obstacles you would like to have removed when walking or riding in town.  Are there pathways that would enrich the city? Are South Main Street, Broadway and Columbia pedestrian friendly or are they unfriendly? Let the city and MFDA know your thoughts.
Two years ago we did Project Discovery.  Goals that we would like the community to accomplish were developed. One goal, developing the Rogers Cannery Property is going forward. But what about “Strengthening  Main Street”, “ Reconnecting with the River”, “ Hyphen Project”,” Improving  the Community Building”, establishing a Wine Incubator and Commercial kitchen ? We have had a lot of fun in community planning, cleaning up, and creating The Gathering Place. What plans for projects or ideas do you want to take off the shelf, dust off, and figure out the next steps?
