2. Main Street Refresh Technical Assistance Reminder that applications are due February 23, 2018 - a copy of the application is attached: In 2016, the National Main Street Center launched a refreshed methodology using the Main Street Approach to downtown revitalization. This refreshed approach emphasizes having one or two overarching transformation strategies that provide a unifying direction and focus to align the strategies and work of the four points (Design, Economic Vitality, Promotion, and Organization). Oregon Main Street will be selecting up to five pilot communities to receive technical assistance. Eligible communities must be already participating in the Main Street Track (Performing Main Street, Transforming Downtown, and Exploring Downtown levels) focus their downtown revitalization efforts.
3. Applications for Performing Main Street and Transforming Downtown levels are due March 2, 2018. Just a reminder that applications are open for the Performing Main Street and Transforming Downtown levels of the Oregon Main Street Network for communities who are currently participating at the Exploring Downtown and Associate levels and want to be considered for one of the upper tiers, or for communities who aren't currently part of the Network but feel they are ready to deeply engage with the Main Street program. Applications can be found on our website at: http://www.oregon.gov/oprd/HCD/SHPO/Pages/mainstreet.aspx
4. The 2018 Oregon Brownfields Conference and Awards Luncheon is scheduled for April 29th through May 1st at Salishan Resort, Gleneden Beach - it's the first time the Conference will be on the coast! There will be a half-day Brownfields 101 Workshop on Sunday for anyone new to brownfields redevelopment or feeling in need of a refresher course. There is also a Mobile Workshop being planned which will provide an opportunity to see some of the redevelopment that has already occurred on environmentally challenging sites. And not to be missed will be the Awards Luncheon recognizing four outstanding projects from around the state. Registration is open and available online: http://www.oregon4biz.com/Brownfields-Conference/
5. Applications are now open for the Diamonds in the Rough Grant program to restore or reconstruct the facades of buildings that have been heavily altered over the years. The purpose is to return them to their historic appearance and potentially qualify them for historic register designation (local or national). These grants are part of the SHPO's Preserving Oregon Grant Program for the 2017-19 biennium. Grants may be awarded up to $20,000.
