[OMS_MANAGERS] Sign Code, etc. for Vacant Buildings

Hello,

I am currently researching codes and ordinances to update our Municipal Code, in order to address the many problem and "zombie" properties we have in Veneta. We are focusing on attractive nuisances and derelict, vacant or dangerous buildings. With many of the zombie properties, old businesses have left signs behind, so we definitely want to include something regarding signage. 

I am curious to hear of some different codes your cities have adopted to deal with dangerous commercial buildings and general urban blight, in order to keep the downtown a vibrant, pedestrian friendly place. I am interested in signage codes, but also anything that your city has found effective in dealing with this problem.
