[OMS_MANAGERS] Power at the Street & Holiday Lights

Hello,

We installed 300' of C7 Warm White LED lights in 22 downtown trees that will be lighted year round. We coordinated with adjacent building owners for power where we paid the cost of installing an exterior outlet and will cover the cost of the power for the trees, which works out to about $25 a year per tree. The total cost was around $1,200 per tree. We used a combination of Urban Renewal and Transient Occupancy Tax to fund the project.

The lights were installed in July and worked great until it started raining which caused the GFCI's to trip. Long story short and a lot of headaches later; be sure that the runs of lights daisy chained together are not too long in length. We had runs that were 1,200 or 1,500 feet in length, which had a lot of points for water to enter the system and trip the GFCI's. Now they work with runs that are 900' or shorter, with shorter being better. Let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Subject: [OMS_MANAGERS] Power at the Street & Holiday Lights

Hey there,

Our community is trying to install power to the light posts downtown. We also are looking for a new solution for Holiday Lights. I am hoping many of you have experience in these areas and can share a few things. First off, please send pictures of your Holiday lights if you have one. That would be very valuable. We are hoping to get your thoughts on how your community funded both of these types of projects. Was it all done by fundraising? Did you have businesses sponsor parts of it or find large sponsorships for the project? Did the City fund the majority of it? Any help, thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
