[OMS_MANAGERS] Oregon Main Street Award Nominations OPEN!!

Just a reminder that the 2019 Excellence in Downtown Revitalization Awards are now open for nominations! Attached is the information for the awards, award categories, and nomination criteria. DEADLINE IS JULY 12, 2019

This year, we decided to go digital and will be accepting nominations via online submission:

It's a little like a choose your own adventure process, once you select the award category, you will be taken to a set of questions just for that award category. If you are submitting more than one nomination, just retake the survey for each submission changing the category you select.

There is one change that is of note, for the "Best New Business" category we are now accepting nominations for businesses that opened in the past two years (July 1, 2017-June 30, 2019) as opposed to just the last year.

It would be great to see at least one nomination from every one of our Main Street Track towns (Performing Main Street, Transforming Downtown, and Exploring Downtown). We know from talking to all of you throughout the year that there has been some truly excellent work going on in your towns, so don't be shy about tooting your own horn!

What are the benefits to submitting a nomination and winning an award you might ask? Here's a few reasons:

-          It's a great way to honor the hard work of one of your volunteers or board members (Volunteer Appreciation 101!)

-          Lends credibility to your organization and the work that you do in the eyes of community stakeholder groups

-          Rewards business owners or property owners for valuing historic downtown properties and possibly have a domino effect

-          Builds on momentum of projects in the downtown

-          If leveraged well, can capture media attention for your efforts and/or the efforts in downtown

-          The award looks pretty cool in the office or up on the wall

-          Inviting award winners to the banquet can be an inspiring experience and has resulted in award winners becoming more involved with Main Street

-          And so many more great reasons!
