[OMS_MANAGERS] Shop Small Saturday Neighborhood Champion

My apologies for not following up on this. That’s interesting … shortly after I sent the earlier email, I received another email with the actual application and was able to apply for this year (and we did get our kit about a week before Small Business Saturday). I didn’t forward it because it appeared it was delivered to previous Neighborhood Champions that were already “prequalified”. I do not recall seeing a generic email with a free-for-all application.
I wonder if they were doing a limited number of kits this year, or only offered it to past Neighborhood Champions? My wife is the director of our local SBDC and she has been a Neighborhood Champion as well. She did not get the email below OR the email indicating that it was time to apply. Now that I’m thinking about it, the email that said applications were open did hint at doing it sooner than later, and implied that they may only have taken a limited number of applications.
To be honest, it’s a great program but has been unpredictable and difficult to manage. You never know what you’ll receive in the kit, and last year I received it literally the day before Thaknsgiving. I’d like to find a sponsor next year and have our own shopping bags made for distribution to businesses and shoppers. Other than the soft marketing and promotion, that’s the tangible piece that ties the event physically to our downtown businesses. Plus, we’d have an opportunity to get our brand into the mix as well.
I’m sure we’ll all share any info we receive next year too.
Cheers!
D

Thanks very much, guys, I appreciate it.
We are going to try to do a 3-week Shop Small Passport event, and an online passport entry option as well. (http://www.downtownbend.org/holidays-in-downtown-2020.html). Fingers crossed!
Have a great afternoon,

If/when the link to the application comes out, I’ll forward it back out to this group (Herb, others who got the same email … maybe we can tag team to make sure it doesn’t get overlooked?)

Greetings,
I've usually registered as a Neighborhood Champion for Small Business Saturday by this time of the year. So far, I haven't seen the AMEX website updated for Shop Small Saturday - Am I missing something? Has anyone else been able to register as a Neighborhood Champion? Is AMEX still doing that this year?
We're going to be hosting the Shop Small passport event, but for 3 weeks instead of 1 day, which means that I need to get started ASAP.
Any information or advice on COVID Shop Small would be much appreciated.
Thanks, guys!
