[OMS_MANAGERS] Update on OMSRG

Darin’s correct that each round has had different eligibility requirements.

I don’t think spending ask capital on changing this definition would be the most fruitful thing that we could do. (Here in about four months, we’re going to start looking for business start tax-breaks, rent incentives, etc to get our vacancies taken care of and more importantly retain a tourism workforce.)

Right now, We’re going to focus communications on having folks prepare their paper work etc so it’s not stressful when short deadline apps come up. In our county, from PPP to Round 4 of funding the backup paperwork has been largely the same and simple but still troubling some people.

From what I understand is that the next round of funding is going out to counties with a minimum of $500k adjusted upward based on population from there. We expect an application before the end of the year with disbursement in January.

Get ready!

It’s not a set definition. It’s related the criteria for each round of funding … I think the last round of funding (Round 5) released by Business Oregon was intentionally made available to larger businesses because they were left out in earlier rounds of funding. Round 4 was limited to businesses with =< 25 employees, for example.

That's great news!

I agree with Liz about the definition of small businesses in Oregon. What's the best way to encourage a change in that? Is it via our legislators again?

I have another request.

Can we change the definition of small businesses in Oregon? Right now it is 500 employees or less. There's a big difference between Main Street businesses and something that even has 100 employees. The money that went out through Business Oregon last week that was gone in 22 minutes - I'm betting that none of our downtown businesses saw a single dollar of that.

But isn't this what they would have done anyway to take affect for January 2023? Not sure this does anything to replace what did not get funded because of lack of lottery bond sales.

Good afternoon! Some of you may have heard the news already, but for those who haven’t …

The Governor’s recommended budget was released yesterday and she is recommending that the Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant be included at $5M! Here’s a link to the budget summary if you’re interested – this was confirmed minutes ago by our regional solutions coordinator. https://www.oregon.gov/das/financial/documents/2021-23_gb.pdf<https://eur05.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.oregon.gov%2Fdas%2Ffinancial%2Fdocuments%2F2021-23_gb.pdf&data=04%7C01%7C%7Ce6fe95d05b4040a7bf0a08d8971243a2%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C637425451985139577%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=FutNKdZQnQeOdWb4r5%2FgT%2FIjkg2qQClNyAOYugdrTVY%3D&reserved=0>

Obviously the legislature will need to carry that through to the bond package so our work isn’t done, but having it in the recommended budget going in makes it a lot easier!

Cheers!
