[OMS_MANAGERS] Design/Review Committee

Good afternoon, everyone! Our City is looking at creating a design review committee to review art, construction projects, renovations, etc., particularly in Downtown (think overall design, not one of the Main Street four points design). The City has a pretty solid design review program, but it is handled by City staff and they want to expand to include murals and other art projects, historic preservation concerns, etc. 

 

I’d love to hear your thoughts or how your community does it. Here are some questions to prompt some thinking:
Construction Design and Art Projects – does the same body review all of these, or are they managed separately? 
If your district is in a historic district, and/or your local government is a CLG, does this committee overlap with those processes? 
How integrated is your Main Street organization in the design review process?
