Resident and local volunteer, Jane Reid, hit the nail on the head when she spoke about Estacada, saying, "We are an unpretentious gem that comes together when opportunities arise, and when challenges arise."
The Riverside Fire and the heroism that has been displayed in the past few days have been remarkable, to say the least, and a reminder of the solidarity this community exemplifies. Firefighters, first-responders, law enforcement, residents, volunteers, and countless others have stepped up in innumerable ways. We thank you.

Re-Entry Timeline and Conditions
When will businesses and residents be able to return?
The short answer: Probably a few more days.
At a meeting of the incident managers for the Riverside Fire this morning, we raised the question of timeline and conditions for the Level 3 evacuation order to be downgraded. Managers responded that one of the conditions for re-entry is that the perimeter of the fire, especially nearest populated areas, must be stable. At this time, that condition is met. A second condition is that infrastructure and utilities near the fire perimeter must be assessed for damage, functionality, and safety. This requires coordination and consensus between private utilities and public agencies. As long as fire behavior remains under control this assessment should be able to take place and create a path toward re-entry and re-opening for residents and businesses in the Estacada area. According to incident managers, the timeline is days, not weeks. Hang in there and stay tuned for further updates.

Finally, while there are some amazing and inspiring stories emerging from this horrific episode, we need to also remember that some residents, some properties, some homes, some businesses were not spared. The Hillockburn and Fall Creek areas in particular suffered devastating losses. Our hearts are with them and we acknowledge the pain they are experiencing.
