Good morning, all!
Per our conversation, I’m providing some information regarding the federal Historic Tax Credit and Congress’s consideration of changes to that program. It narrowly escaped its demise in 2017 and is back up for consideration in the infrastructure and reconciliation bills currently being considered in Congress. One of the key changes being considered is a permanent increase of the tax credit from 20% to 30%.
If you have any input you’d like to submit as this legislation is being crafted, this is a key opportunity. Senator Wyden (Oregon) chairs the Senate Finance Committee where this legislation will be deliberated early in the process.
Following are three pieces of information that I think would be most useful for you to become familiar with the program if you are not already, and also to register any feedback with legislators if you’d like:
National Park Service Historic Preservation Tax Incentives brochure:

Main Street America’s blog post, including legislator contact info and registration for a webinar next week:

If you have any questions, please let me know. I’m nowhere near an expert on this program, but I’m happy to help connect you with the advocacy team at Main Street America if necessary.
Thanks!
