Subject: [OMS_MANAGERS] OMS Round-up
1. Network member update: I am sorry to announce that Kevin Teater will be leaving his position with the Beaverton Downtown Association later this year. Kevin has done a terrific job in strengthening the organizational structure of BDA, forging meaningful community partnerships, and really raising the visibility of BDA’s critical role in sustaining and enhancing downtown Beaverton. It was Kevin’s initial thought to start the Mornings on Main weekly check-in calls at the start of the pandemic and they have become a staple in our communications/networking toolkit. We will miss his calm presence and thoughtful contributions!
With that said, the BDA board has just posted the job announcement – see attached. Please share with those you think would be a good match for this dynamic organization. Resume Contact info: chair at downtownbeaverton.org<mailto:chair at downtownbeaverton.org> and vicechair at downtownbeaverton.org<mailto:vicechair at downtownbeaverton.org>
1. Mornings on Main: We will have our weekly call this week. Sheri Stuart is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
Join Zoom Meeting: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/91227346613?pwd=ajh0Y2V6alAwN1Z2YytQSEdvaUQrUT09 Meeting ID: 912 2734 6613 Passcode: 931935
1. Sheri’s April Schedule: Beginning Friday, I will be on vacation through April 15. Please contact Kuri Gill if you need assistance will I am out, kuri.gill at oprd.oregon.gov<mailto:kuri.gill at oprd.oregon.gov>. For the remainder of April, I will have very little availability. We will be interviewing for the Technical Resource Specialist position formerly filled by Beth as well as hosting our virtual Oregon Heritage Conference among other things.
1. Follow up from Aimée Okotie-Oyekan, DLCD, with info and resources from last week’s Mornings on Main call:
Community Engagement Resources: Attached you will find
* Community Engagement guidance from the Governor’s Office
* Putting the People in Planning (DLCD, 2019)
* Appendix A – Public Involvement Process Checklist
* Appendix B - Audience Identification Exercise
* Appendix C – Public Involvement Plan Template
* Appendix D - Resources and Links
Engagement Resources for Recent Sustainability Legislation: The Oregon Just Transition Alliance (OJTA) is a movement of communities facing environmental racism, climate change, and economic exploitation – the frontlines of injustice and the frontlines of change. They have done amazing work to prepare communities to advocate for environmental justice in the state legislature and supported the passage of sweeping energy, climate, and justice related bills in the last two legislative sessions. If looking for toolkits, talking points, etc., I would start with reaching out to them: https://www.ojta.org/about-ojta
Question about TGM Education and Outreach Support: TGM Education and Outreach services include workshops, lectures, conferences, and public forums for local governments at no charge. Please review this one page overview<https://www.oregon.gov/lcd/TGM/Documents/EducationOutreachFeb2020.pdf> for information about how to apply. Please note the contact information on the page needs to be updated - reach out to me if you’d like to discuss your community engagement needs further.
Question about TGM Grants Character Limit: The pre-application character limit does include spaces.

1. 2022 Virtual Oregon Heritage Conference - REGISTRATION OPEN!
Registration is now OPEN (finally!) for the 2022 Virtual Oregon Heritage Conference & Heritage Excellence Awards, April 27-29!
The power of heritage has never before been made so clear as it has in recent times. In 2020 we had planned to inspire heritage organizations at the conference, to help you realize and enact your organization's power within your communities. Instead, you blew us away the past two years with your proactive actions, your steadfastness, and most of all, your resilience. From proactive collecting for historic events, providing information about similar historic events, responding to civil unrest, saving historic sites from fires, to just surviving financial uncertainty. You harnessed the power, now let's embrace it and multiply it. Join us April 27-29 as we explore ways in which heritage preservation empowers communities, uncovers untold stories, preserves history in the making, creatively engages audiences, and proves its value.
This conference engages participants in all areas of heritage preservation in Oregon including historic preservation, museums, historical societies, city/county commissions, main streets, archaeology, historic cemeteries, and more. Whether you want to strengthen your organization, identify tools and resources for your efforts, engage with the community, advocate for support, or create new appreciation for Oregon heritage in its many forms, you will want to attend.
