Small Deal Initiative Survey - closes on November 11 Main Street America's Small Deal Initiative needs your input! It's essential that we understand the specific obstacles that hold back building rehabilitation in our communities. MSA have developed two surveys to help us better understand the challenges you are facing so we can begin to create innovative solutions to increase investment in small-scale development. Please take the survey that best fits your role in the Main Street Movement - share the link with your board members and local leaders as well as the link for developers with building owners in your downtown. Learn more and take the surveys here ><https://bit.ly/3DhP7lM>

New Executive Director Orientation, November 17, 2 to 5 p.m.: We have scheduled a training for new executive directors that haven't had a chance to participate in one of our orientations. This session covers an overview of the Main Street Approach, an introduction to Oregon Main Street, and specific roles and responsibilities of staff, board members, and volunteers. While this is a free workshop, registration is required: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwofuygqjwuGtKHecK4AIrgkk-4EbH3kdrW<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fus06web.zoom.us%2Fmeeting%2Fregister%2FtZwofuygqjwuGtKHecK4AIrgkk-4EbH3kdrW&data=05%7C01%7CSheri.STUART%40oprd.oregon.gov%7C145fe45c9eff4300efd108dabc43524d%7Caa3f6932fa7c47b4a0cea598cad161cf%7C0%7C0%7C638029294583609806%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=mN6OIGSmsChijrLmJTONjsYuWSKetuDq%2F1CekLRFbs0%3D&reserved=0>

Applications Opening Soon for Designated Main Street and Affiliated Main Street: Just a reminder that we will be opening up applications for the Designated Main Street and Affiliated Main Street levels of the Oregon Main Street Network in November. This application round is for new communities who want to join the OMS Network at one of the Main Street Track levels or for existing communities that want to move up a level. If you are a current Designated Main Street or Affiliated Main Street level community and want to stay at your current level you do not need to attend this workshop. We will host application workshops on Thursday, November 17, at 8 a.m. and then repeating at noon. In the workshop we will cover the requirements to participate at these new tiers and provide tips on completing the application. You must register in advance to attend one of the workshops (the same information will be covered in each of the sessions so you only need to register for one):

DOT Thriving Communities Program DOT recently launched the Thriving Communities program to provide communities with two years of capacity building, planning, and technical assistance to compete for federal aid and deliver quality infrastructure projects. We encourage you to share this opportunity<https://www.transportation.gov/grants/thriving-communities/information-for-technical-assistance-seekers> with local programs.

  * Community Letters of Intent (LOI) are due on 12/6/22.
  * LOIs must be submitted by a unit of government or similar; nonprofit MS programs can encourage local governments to apply and be a part of the local partnership.
  * The program is targeting disadvantaged communities. DOT has provided this document<https://www.transportation.gov/sites/dot.gov/files/2022-10/Instructions-for-Using-Federal-Tools-to-Identify-Disadvantaged-Communities-for-TCP-LOI-Submission.pdf> to help communities determine which status(es) might apply to them.
