Save the Date: OMS Conference is October 4-6 in Independence
Just a reminder to mark your calendars for the Oregon Main Street Conference October 4-6 in beautiful, historic Downtown Independence. Our conference theme is Idea to Implementation. I can’t think of a better keynote speaker who embodies this theme. Mary Means is perhaps best known for conceiving the idea for enhancing historic downtowns that were in decline then leading the team that created the main street approach which implemented in thousands of communities across the country. Learn more at Means' website<http://marymeans.com/> (http://marymeans.com/ ). Mary is the author of Main Street's Comeback and How It Can Come Back Again, published in 2020. Registration for the conference will open in August.

New Policies & Procedures Handbook
We have an updated version of our sample Policies & Procedures<https://www.oregon.gov/oprd/OH/Documents/OMS%20Policies%20and%20Procedures%20-%20WEB.pdf> manual for Main Street organizations. The manual is a fillable PDF that can be customized for your organization. It contains some of the types or policies and procedures main street organizations should consider adopting to help with smoother operations. Updates were provided by Donna Harris with Heritage Consulting, Inc. with special updates for the personnel policies section by Nicole Feightner, PHR/SHRM-CP, Bridgetown People Consulting.

Board Institute 101 – July 26, 8:00 a.m. to 10 a.m.
We would like to have all the board members of main street organizations in the Main Street Track attend our Board Institute 101. We will be offering these sessions monthly through the end of the year. If board members have already attended, they are not required to attend again. During these sessions, we cover an introduction to the Main Street Approach and Oregon Main Street, typical roles and responsibilities of all nonprofit board members, and the basics of action planning.
