[OMS_MANAGERS] Sustainable funding resources

Hi all,

I have been conducting program evaluations and facilitating board retreats for the a good part of January and February. One of the topics that has universally come to the top is developing sustainable funding plans. Main Street organizations should have plans that include a mix of funding sources including:

  *   Local government (usually through some type of service agreement)
  *   Annual campaign (large and small donors)
  *   Sponsorship
  *   Fundraisers
  *   Grants (typically project specific with some caveats in Oregon)
  *   Other (project campaign, merchandise, etc.)

Good sources of information frequently come across Main Street America's The Point (see attached for examples I found this morning for Friends campaigns and a business sponsorship program). In posting the Waterville example, Kathy La Plante mentioned they have their donor campaign but then have at least 2 other asks per year around Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day reminding people of the importance of downtown and tapping in to people's care and love for the community.
