[or-roots] 49/50 snowstorm (was are you still there?)

I remember that storm very well.  Isn't that the one that was accompanied by 
a silver thaw?  I was 8 years old and remember trying to ride my new bike on 
the icy layer covering the snow.  Every ten feet or so the front wheel would 
break through the ice layer and sink down into the snow, pitching me forward 
over the handlebars.  In between, I just slipped over sideways.  Guess I must 
have been a slow learner.  

So next question - where were all of you when the big shaker came?  I was 
outside playing and can still remember seeing those poles and wires waltzing 
around.
