OK, I went looking online for them in the 1880 census and had very little
luck, I drew a complete blank for John W ma. Eidth, if i had one or both
birth dates and or places might find them, but Wm H ma Eva should have been
a snap, not so, with Wm's birth date and place I pulled up every person born
between 1849 and 1853 in oregon who had first name William, there were 115
of them, figureing there would be a Noomine or something like that that the
search engine didn't connect with Newman. No such luck, just this guy;
Name Relation Marital Status Gender Race Age Birthplace Occupation Father's
Birthplace Mother's Birthplace
Wm. H. NEWMAN Self W Male W 28 OR Works In Saw Mill IN
MO
Alice S. NEWMAN Dau S Female W 4 WA/TY At Home OR ---
Fred HOFER Other S Male W 28 SWISS Works At Saw Mill SWISS
SWISS
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
Source Information:
Census Place Sterlingville, Jackson, Oregon
Family History Library Film 1255081
NA Film Number T9-1081
Page Number 85A
Then I got the bright idea of looking for Eva without him, now notice this
William is listed as widowed . . .
Name Relation Marital Status Gender Race Age Birthplace Occupation Father's
Birthplace Mother's Birthplace
Eva NEWMAN Self M Female W 23 OR OH IN
William NEWMAN GSon S Male W 3 WA TER OR OR
Rosa E. NEWMAN GDau S Female W 8M OR OR OR
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
Source Information:
Census Place North Salem, Marion, Oregon
Family History Library Film 1255082
NA Film Number T9-1082
Page Number 56D
Now I could build up all kinds of scenarios to explain these, but in fact
they are probably just coincidence and either your folks got missed, or
weren't in Oregon in 1880, so just for a long shot I tried Hiram;
Name Relation Marital Status Gender Race Age Birthplace Occupation
Father's Birthplace Mother's Birthplace
Hiram NEWMAN Self M Male W 24 OR Laborer --- ---
Mary A. NEWMAN Wife M Female W 20 OR MO IL
Parden B. NEWMAN Son S Male W 1 OR OR OR
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
Source Information:
Census Place Leland, Jackson, Oregon
Family History Library Film 1255081
NA Film Number T9-1081
Page Number 65B
Now the possibility that the top two are yours seems more likely, but
without more info it is hard to tell, notice Hiranm doesn't know his parents
birthplaces which is inconsistant with his being related to William H.
listed above. Who Knows.

Hello List..
I am looking for the John W NEWMAN and Edith Tetherow family, I have
found they were
married 1851 in Clackamas Co, and John was widowed 1880 in Clckamas Co,.
and they had
a son WIlliam Henry NEWMAN born in Clackamas Co, 1852 and maybe another son
Hiram
NEWMAN.
William Henry NEWMAN was married to Eva McCoy 1874 in Clark Co, Wash, and
had three children, and then they were divorced by 1882 as she married Hiram
NEWMAN then in Clark Co, Wash,
and it is said they were brothers, Would sure like to know more about this
puzzle,
William Henry then married Rose Andrews, and had a son Herbert NEWMAN,
Is there anyone out there that knows of this family, I would sure appreciare
you input,
I am doing this for a friend and gr grand daughter of William Henry Newman
and Eva.
Thank you for your time...
Rose in Central Oregon
