Judy;

for a quick answer go to;

http://members.aol.com/forvets/htomr.htm

it has instructions for ordering various military records, please note;

The Privacy Act of 1974 also provides for the release of information with
the written consent (signature) of the individual to whom the records
pertain. The Privacy Act does not apply to the records of deceased
individuals; however, Department of Defense instructions indicate that in
such cases we must have the written consent of the next of kin (NOK). For
purpose of release, the next of kin is defined as any of the following:
unremarried widow or widower, son, daughter, father, mother, brother or
sister.

If this doesn't get you what you want, let me know, somewhere i have seen
links to a lot of military records that are posted online, WW I seems a bit
too recent to be available, but I might be able to come up with something.

I have a question for anyone on the list who can assist with this. I need
to know where I can obtain the service record for a WWI veteran. It is my
natural father who is listed as married at the end of that war and it is a
marriage I was unaware of. No name is shown on the document that I have for
the wife. My father's full name is Merle Elvin Brown He was born in Fossil
in March 1901. He sometimes was called Jack. If anyone can assist with
this question I would be very grateful. My email is judyrobertson39 at aol.com
if you prefer to contact me off the list. Thanks , Judy
