Karla;
I thought you had a mistake in the name, as I was thinking we didn't have a
"Friend" Oregon, but it turns out to be;
Friend, Wasco County. Friend was named for George J. Friend as the post
office established February 28, 1903, was on his homestead. The name was
proposed by Theo. H. Buskuhl, first postmaster.
Since "Friend" didn't 'officially' exist until 1903 I would tend to believe
your grandpa was born in the Dalles, though it's entirely possible there was
a settlement that became "Friend" that he was born in.

Gray, and Emma Freda Gertrude Miller Gray on September 1, 1920. My
grandfather was born in Friend or The Dalles, on January 18
, I think the year was 1883 or so, to James Jackson Gray, and Susan
Permelier Gray (her maiden name just flew out of my mind).
