I have a cousin that resides it what is now Granite Bay,
just outside of Folsom. He has a turn of the century barn
on his acreage.
I have two Reynolds of Oregon, who are buried now under
a modern grocery. The Bayview people fought a losing
battle, and many of the early pioneers suffered the same
fate as my ancestors. Alan French and his wife, who
was the sister-in-law of Allen Reynolds, have beautiful
headstones in their memory. How theirs survived is a real
mystery.
It was rather odd but the two elderly couples came out to
Oregon for the milder weather and hit several years of
bad winters. In one the Alsea River froze and pushe all
in its path into the Pacific.
I have read a number of your stories, but one you should
get a kick out of was from a German lady who came to
Minnesota about 1855 and complained that the mosquitos
were so bad one had to use a smudge pot to milk the cow.
Another is the story of the grasshoppers being so bad the
hens eggs turned green.

I remember as teenager back in the early 50s when they build Folsom Dam and Lake near me. They spent days just removing all of the known graves from the valley and putting them all together at a new site with the remains and the stones. It was quite a job and the new cemetery is quite big but the relatives can still go and see there ancestors and that's what its all about. I don't know when we took this terrible attitude toward the dead but I think we need to do all we can to see that Oregon gets new laws that protect them. It should flat out be against the law to desecrate a grave or move it without the permission of the descendants and or a court order and then they should only be moved not just plowed under and forgot.
