A few weeks ago there was a discussion, which I missed, about Fred Lockley's/Mike Helm's "Conversations
with Pioneer Men/Women".
Fred himself also wrote columns entitled "Impressions and Observations of the Journal Man", which ran for
years in the Oregon Journal. Does anyone know if these articles have been compiled? Is there an index to
the articles in the Journal?
I just ordered the "Conversations...." books, and "Conversations with bullwhackers, muleskinners,
pioneers, prospectors, '49ers, Indian fighters, trappers, ex-barkeepers, authors, preachers, poets & near
poets & all sorts & conditions of men", from Powell's, and am looking forward to reading them.
However, I have copies of several of Lockley's articles, and really would like to see the rest of them.
(I know, I know, why didn't I think of this when I was in Eugene last week. . . .and could go to Knight
Library to check there <G>).
Thanks for any help.
Pat (in Tucson)
